Virtua Launches Innovative Women’s Health Portal

Virtua is a comprehensive multi-hospital healthcare system headquartered in Marlton, NJ with more than 36 care sites and four hospitals. A non-profit organization, Virtua employs 8,400 clinical and administrative personnel, and approximately 1,800 physicians serve as medical staff members. Virtua has distinguished itself as one of the first Six Sigma organizations in healthcare and as an early adopter of advanced clinical and digital technologies. It has been honored twice with the New Jersey Governor's award for Clinical Excellence and recognized with the Leadership Award for Outstanding Achievement by Voluntary Hospitals of America.
THE CHALLENGE
Virtua recognizes that women are often the lynchpin to managing their and their family’s health, yet with all of life’s daily demands, they struggle to find the time to take care of their own health and wellness needs as well as those of their family. As part of their mission to deliver a world-class patient experience, Virtua wanted to make it easier for busy women to manage health matters. The goal: to improve the health and wellness of its patients by making it easier for women to research health topics; make appointments; communicate with other women; find health, wellness, and lifestyle resources; and earn rewards for products and services - all from a single web site.
THE SOLUTION
Virtua worked in partnership with Aspen Advisors to manage the architecture, design, build, and deployment of Virtua Woman, a unique health and wellness web site for women. The site includes features such as personal health records, communities on topics of interest to women at each stage of their life, a rewards program with coupons and discounts at local and national retailers, columns and blogs written by women for women, an extensive library of health and wellness information, and shopping opportunities for health and wellness products and services. It also includes exclusive access to personal health navigators to recommend and schedule appointments with the right doctors, schedule classes, and receive guidance through the diagnosis and treatment of medical issues.
THE RESULTS
Virtua Woman provides a destination web site with leading edge content for busy women. It allows women to manage their family’s health, share their experiences, find the right resources, and stay up-to-date with well-written news updates and insightful columns. It has become a great tool for helping women save time and proactively manage their health. Just six months after launch, there have been 15,000 unique visitors to the site, and over 2,600 of those visitors have also registered as Virtua Woman members.
